This novel is actually a joint collaboration by Melanie
Rawn, Jennifer Roberson, and Kate Elliot. It's a little slow going
at first, in my opinion, but gets somewhat more interesting midway through
it, and by the end I couldn't stand to put it down until I knew what happened.
There are two more novels planned for this series. One will be a
prequel set centuries ahead of this one; the other will be set substantially
later.

Sario is delightfully evil and twisted, but there is a
method to his madness. In his eyes, the Grijalvas have a terrific
gift that has never been explored for use to its full potential.
They have the opportunity to posses unequaled power, if they will just
take it. Therefore, Sario sets out to do just that -- restore former power
and honor to the Grijalva name. However, his methods of doing this
are anything but honorable, and in certain instances they backfire on him.
