Sunrunners |
![]() |
Sunrunners, also called faradhi in the old tongue, have the ability to use various forms of light to communicate. In addition, they can call fire at will and sometimes air also. Sunrunners are traditionally trained at Goddess Keep under the authority of the Lord or Lady of the Keep. At each stage of their training, they receive a ring betokening their abilities, as follows.
| First Ring | Call Fire |
| Second Ring | Call Air |
| Third Ring | Conjure in Fire |
| Fourth Ring | Use Sunlight |
| Fifth Ring | Full Sunrunner |
| Sixth Ring | Use Moonlight |
| Seventh Ring | Conjure without Fire |
| Eighth Ring | Teachers |
| Ninth Ring | Master Sunrunner |
| Tenth Ring | Lord or Lady of Goddess Keep |
When Andry took over as Lord of Goddess Keep, he made several changes to the meanings of rings as they were bestowed. These changes are as follows:
|
|
|
|
|
Use Moonlight |
| Eighth Ring | Teacher and Master |
| Ninth Ring | Dev'rim
(Lords and Ladies of Sunlight) |
The rings were traditionally made of a store of reddish
gold passed down through history. Andry chose to break with this
tradition, having his rings cast of entirely new metal. Later, he
learns that the special gold traditionally used warned of sorcery being
performed with a burning sensation from the rings.
